Frequently Asked Questions

  • It is best if you fill out the form on the “Contact” page of my website, and I will get in touch with you regarding my availability as soon as possible.

Please see the section Contact for more information.

  • Once you send me your information via the “Contact” form of my website, I will get in touch with you to schedule your first appointment. I will also send you intake paperwork via email to be completed PRIOR to our first appointment. This paperwork is required to be completed prior to our first appointment. Please send the paperwork back via the method originally sent, either via email or my electronic medical record. I may contact you for more information or clarification in the interim.

Please be sure to include an email which is private and secure, as we may be communicating about medical information. My professional email is HIPAA-compliant and encrypted for this purpose.

Please also be sure to read my Practice Policies before our first appointment.

  • Our initial visit will either be an Initial Psychiatric Evaluation or an Expert Psychiatric Consultation, depending on your needs. In either circumstance, our visit will involve me asking you a number of questions regarding your mental health and medical history. I may request to see previous chart documentation, if you have access. I may ask for the contact information of previous providers, or family members or loved ones who know you well. I like for our initial visit to be as open ended as possible, as I aim to get to know you as a person, in addition to your medical history. This takes some time, so I would suggest allotting 60-90 minutes to face-to-face time for our initial appointment.

Please see the Services section for more details.

  • I recommend using a laptop with a high-quality camera for our appointments. I recommend finding a secluded place where you feel comfortable, such as an office or bedroom, where you can comfortably sit and talk freely. There should not be people around who can hear our conversation, as this may impede the therapeutic process. I advise against using your phone for appointments. Significant distractions during our appointments may lead to termination of the appointment.

  • Unfortunately, given numerous factors, I am unable to meet in-person at this time. Appointments are only by video. I hope this is advantageous for you in terms of safety and convenience. If you seek a physician who is able to see you in-person, I would suggest seeking care elsewhere.

  • My practice is considered "out of network" for most insurance companies. You may be able to seek reimbursement for our visits from your insurance company, if your insurance program provides out-of-network benefits. Payment is expected in full at the beginning of our appointment. Method of payment must be entered into my online payment system prior to our appointment.

Please see the Practice Policies section for more information.

  • My practice uses an electronic medical record (EMR) with the ability to send me messages between appointments. Messages should be limited to non-urgent issues. I will try to answer your message ASAP. Please consider that it may take me 24-48 hours to reply to messages sent via the EMR.

For life-threatening emergencies, or if you are in crisis, please see below for resources available.

  • For life-threatening emergencies, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. If you message me over the EMR, it may take 24-48 hours, or longer, for me to respond to your message. If you cannot reach me during an urgent situation, you may also call the crisis line 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at 360-586-2800. You may also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), which is a confidential hotline staffed by trained mental health counselors, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
